CHLA/ABSC 35th Annual Conference, May 26-30, 2011
Sustain, Evolve, Transform health librarianship in Calgary, 2011 at the 35th annual Conference of the Canadian Health Libraries Association/ Association des bibliothèques de la santé du Canada (CHLA/ ABSC). We invite you to join us and consider how we can sustain our libraries, evolve our profession and transform our practices to meet the new generation of health library users.
Your conference venue is the Hyatt Regency Hotel, located in the heart of downtown, on historic Stephen Avenue Mall where you can stroll, shop, enjoy outdoor cafes, and visit the Glenbow Museum. The Hyatt, which has just undergone a multimillion dollar renovation, joins heritage sandstone buildings with a contemporary tower and is home to an extensive original art collection. The Hyatt uses sustainable Bullfrog energy, its restaurant Thompsons is one of the 'Top 10 Places to Dine' in Calgary, and the Stillwater Spa is Calgary’s best and only full-service hotel spa. Calgary’s light rail system, the C train is less than a block away, providing ready access to all of Calgary.
A leadership CE program at the internationally renowned Banff Centre kicks off our program. Or, join your colleagues in Banff for to hike, shop or enjoy high tea at Banff’s other internationally renowned icon, the Banff Springs Hotel.
Our key note speakers, Professor Joanne Gard Marshall, Andrew Brash and Dr. Eddy Lang will cover such diverse topics as evidence-based practice, personal motivation, and knowledge translation. The social program starts with a stroll down Stephen Avenue Mall to the opening reception at the Glenbow Museum where you can nibble on appetizers, taste wine sponsored by Ebsco and explore the exhibits, including the Karsh. We conclude with an unforgettable banquet planned at the Hyatt hosted by Ovid. In true prairie fashion, we also invite you, with your musical instrument(s) or your musical appreciation, to join us after the banquet for a music jam in the Hyatt’s glass and lime-stone atrium. Since Calgary also has the most kilometres of trails of any city in North America, there will be a morning walk or run along the river to keep you in top shape for our exciting speakers and conference presenters, and all the great food you’ll be eating.
We are delighted to welcome you to our city to discuss Sustaining, Evolving and Transforming our profession.
