CHLA/ABSC Conference 2020 Call for Submissions

The 2020 CHLA/ABSC Planning Committee invites submissions for the Annual Conference to be held in Niagara Falls, Ontario (June 12-15). The theme of the conference is 20/20 Vision. We invite attendees to share their vision for the future, as well as lessons from the past, through innovation, emerging roles, research and collaborations. We welcome and encourage submissions in both English and French and from all information professionals, including library technicians and librarians.

The online abstract submission site is now available via the CHLA/ABSC 2020 Conference website.

*New this Year: Interactive Workshops*

The Program Committee is introducing a new form of contributed content to the conference in the form of interactive workshops. These interactive workshops will be in-depth, engaging sessions structured around active participation and active learning. These sessions should be on a specific topic that is relevant to health libraries.

Abstracts

Authors are asked to rank how they would prefer to present their work: as a paper, poster, or lightning talk. Abstracts not accepted to a first choice will be considered for second or third choices. Please note that interactive workshops are their own unique type of submission and cannot be ranked along with papers, posters or lightning talks.

When submitting structured abstracts, authors must select one of the following:

  1. Research abstracts: report on designing, conducting, and analyzing a research project.
  2. Program description abstracts: describe the creation and improvement of products, programs, technologies, administrative practices, or services conducted by librarians, library technicians, and other information professionals.
  3. Interactive Workshop abstracts describe an in-depth, engaging session on a specific topic relevant to health libraries. Included in the abstract are the session learning outcomes, target audience, description of the workshop, and description of the interactivity.

Abstracts for research projects or program descriptions must follow the guidelines on the Journal of the Canadian Health Libraries Association Online Submissions page. For details on preparing a structured abstract, please see the Abstract Submission FAQ. Note: Any submissions that are received without a structured abstract will be returned to authors to revise and resubmit before December 15, 2019 11:59 PST. Late submissions will not be accepted.

Abstracts for Research or Program proposals not accepted to a first choice will be considered for second or third choices. To be considered, submissions must be received by December 15, 2019, 11:59 pm PST. Please note that you can edit and make changes to your proposal until the deadline. Authors MAY postpone entering their results/outcomes and discussion until after the peer-review process is completed. Accepted authors must complete entry of results/outcomes and discussion by March 1, 2020, if they did not already do so in the initial abstract submission. Note that the word count for the abstract cannot exceed 250 words. Original abstract submissions may need to be modified to meet the 250-word limit. Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Program and the JCHLA Proceedings.
