Tours

There will be two tours offered during CHLA/ABSC 2025. Make sure to sign up ahead of time to secure your spot! 

All tours will depart from the Registration Desk located in the Great Hall Foyer of The NEST.

Make sure to wear good walking shoes if you plan to walk over to the tour.

1. UBC Farm Guided Tour
   Tuesday, June 3 at 1 PM PDT.
        Departs the Registration Desk at 12:30 PM.
   Guided tour.
   $10 to attend.
   Maximum of 30 attendees.
   Register online.
   
   Note: If you have already registered but want to register for any of the tours, select the Register as a guest option and choose the Social Activities option on the registration page.
   
   Explore the gardens, beehives, the apple orchard, and more at UBC Farms, situated within a 90-year-old coastal hemlock forest. Learn about Indigenous agriculture, biodiversity, and ongoing research on this one-hour walk. 
   
   
2. Museum of Anthropology at UBC Self-Guided Tour
   Friday, June 6 at 2 PM PDT.
        Departs the Registration Desk at 1:45 PM.
   Self-guided group tour.
   Attendees are responsible for their own ticket to enter the museum (Complimentary to $26).
   Sign-up at the Registration Desk.
   
   With its soaring architecture, spectacular sea-to-sky views and stunning Northwest Coast First Nations art collection, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC is a must-see among Vancouver museums. While focused on local Indigenous arts and culture, MOA provides a look at artifacts and history from around the globe.

Other Social Activities

1. Navigating Your First CHLA (Tuesday June 3rd from 6-6:45 PM)
   If this is your first time attending CHLA/ABSC, then this event is for you! Come meet and connect with other first-time attendees, chat with CHLA/ABSC board members, and learn about how to make the most of this fantastic conference. Afterwards, make your way over to the official Opening Reception
   
   
2. Opening Reception (Tuesday June 3rd from 7-9 PM)
   Catch up with colleagues you haven’t seen in a while and make new connections as we kick off the conference! Join us in the exhibits hall at 7pm. 
   
   
3. Morning Walk with the UBC Move U Crew (Wednesday June 4th at 6:30 AM)
   Start your day off right with a morning walk hosted by the UBC Move U Crew! The walk leaves from the registration Desk bright and early at 6:30 AM. No registration is required.
   
   
4. Dine Arounds (Wednesday June 4th from 5:30-8 PM)
   CHLA/ABSC will be organizing Dine-Arounds at some of our favourite local eateries. More details and sign-up sheets will be available on site during the conference.
   
   
5. Closing Banquet (Thursday June 5th at 6 PM)
   The CHLA/ABSC Awards Banquet will be held at the The NEST. Come prepared to nosh on some amazing food, have a glass of wine, catch up with colleagues, and celebrate our award winners. Attendees will also be treated to some live entertainment!
