Sustainability

The Conference Planning Committee is putting forward a number of initiatives to improve the environmental sustainability of the 2024 conference.

Meals

We are thrilled to announce that the upcoming CHLA/ABSC 2024 is embracing an environmentally conscious initiative by providing vegetarian meals throughout our event. This decision aligns with our commitment to reducing our ecological footprint and promoting sustainable practices. By choosing vegetarian cuisine, we aim to contribute to a healthier planet and demonstrate our dedication to environmental stewardship.

We understand the significance of accommodating various dietary needs, including food allergies. We are working closely with the Delta Hotel chefs to ensure that our menu planning takes into account a wide range of dietary restrictions and preferences. We are committed to ensuring that all attendees with specific food allergies or intolerances are taken care of and will have delicious and suitable options available to them.

We recognize that some attendees may have dietary requirements that include meat. As such, while our primary offering will be vegetarian, we will ensure that meat options are available upon request to accommodate those who require meat as part of their diet. Our goal is to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants, ensuring that everyone can enjoy satisfying and appropriate meals during our conference.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to promote sustainability and health-conscious choices at CHLA/ABSC  2024. We look forward to providing a memorable and enriching experience for all attendees.

Travel

Recognizing that travel has serious environmental impacts, we encourage attendees to seek the most environmentally friendly mode of transportation to Winnipeg possible. Review this guidance from the David Suzuki Foundation to inform your travel for this conference. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we strongly encourage attendees to consider purchasing carbon offsets for their flights to help mitigate the environmental footprint generated by their travel. Taking this proactive step will contribute to the collective effort in reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation to the conference. Attendees can calculate their carbon emissions and purchase offsets.
