The principal goal of the course is to enhance participants’ ability to engage People with Disabilities (PWDs) in the workplace in a positive and equitable manner. The course will address several included components: skills training (e.g. case study), attitudinal analysis (e.g. various attitudinal frameworks/models), and available resources (local, Canadian, international). The training session includes lecture, small group discussions/case studies, exposure to perspectives of a cross-section of PWDs (pre-recorded interviews), and through Q&A segments designed to encourage experience with the several topics and appropriate use of language.

The main goal of this course is to help health librarians and health professionals better understand how equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) apply to their everyday work.
We want participants to leave with not just theoretical knowledge, but also with practical tools and the confidence to apply those tools when they’re serving diverse communities.
We also hope to spark ongoing self-reflection about the power dynamics within their workplaces and the role of allyship in creating truly welcoming and equitable spaces.
